On February 16, 2023, a new citizen science project “Prachtsatlanten” was launched at the Zurich Central Library (ZB).

The ZB’s map collection has had national maps from the oldest and most beautiful atlases in its holdings digitized.

Citizen scientists are invited to georeference the more than 2,900 maps.

On Saturday, March 18, 2023, a public workshop on the project will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Zurich Central Library. In addition to a thematic introduction, participants can view original documents and observe the work done in the library’s collection preservation department—followed by an optional opportunity to share experiences while georeferencing together.
