From August 23 to December 7, 2019, the Central Library’s treasure chamber will be transformed into a cosmographic cabinet of curiosities. From the spherical diagrams on 10th-century parchment sheets to the interactive 3D visualization of the famous St. Gallen Globe, the exhibition “Cosmos in the Chamber” uses cosmographic objects, texts, images, and maps to provide insight into a multifaceted juxtaposition of different worldviews.

The public conference “Cosmos in Zurich’s Chambers” aims to explore this coexistence and its dynamic processes of transformation. On November 9, 2019, in the Hermann Escher Hall of the Central Library, selected exhibits from the exhibition will be juxtaposed and discussed from various perspectives. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend the conference and participate in the discussion.
